Is this a weed?

Nancy A Beadles on Aug 15, 2016It is not a weed. It is an arum italium. Funny name, but beautiful plant. it sometimes takes 2 years or more to grow after being planted. It will send up a white cup-shaped flower, then get a really pretty seed cone that starts green and turns red in the fall.Helpful Reply

Sue Kiene on Aug 16, 2016looks like Nancy is right or very close. I liked how it looked so googled. It came up as arum italicum tho. Love the common name Italian lords and ladies. The images are beautiful. Glad you did not pull it out as a weed. I do not think I would have either.Helpful Reply

C_e9968408 on Aug 18, 2016It looks like an indoor plane (zone 5). I have several and have always called it :Chicken foot" since I don;t know the genus. Roots well in water (water roots not good for direct transplant into s). Or use plant rooting hormone to plant in potting mix. Growth us very similar to philodendron.Helpful Reply

Lonnie on Nov 01, 2016It is definitely not a weed. I believe it to be an Elephant Ear plant or one of many Alocasia's. There are many varieties.Helpful Reply
