Recovering my office chair

I have an office chair I want to recover ( seat and arms areas) and I am wondering if anyone has ever painted vinyl trim as the back is fully covered in vinyl?

Yes, I have painted vinyl trim, and it's easier than you might think. First, give it a good cleaning, and make sure it is dry. Then spray or brush on a couple coats of primer, but make sure you buy the kind that works on plastic. Then you can paint it whatever color or colors you want. When you are satisfied with how it looks, spray it with clear coat (I used two coats.) That's all you have to do! See, I told you it was easy.

I sew, so I made slip covers for one using upholstery fabric. Measure the chair carefully if you do this. Neat thing about slip covers is that they can be removed and cleaned occasionally.
