Best thing to plant in S. W. Arizona to create a lush look?
-
Douglas Hunt on Aug 17, 2013Congratulations on your new home! I'm not sure where you're moving from, but the first thing you need to do is to define "lush" in the context of where you will be living. For example, the biggest mistake people in my area make is to try to achieve a tropical look when we live in an area that gets freezes. Here are two good web resources for you to get started. The first is "Landscaping with Style in the Arizona Desert," from the Arizona Department of Water Resources, which offers you step-by-step guidelines for creating a successful and beautiful desert landscape: http://www.amwua.org/landscape/landscape_principles.html The second is an online database of plants to populate that landscape, from Arizona Municipal Water Users Association: http://www.amwua.org/plants_index.html Good luck. We look forward to seeing photos of what you create.Helpful Reply
