Kitchen Before and After
by

(IC: homeowner)
Our kitchen was very dark..had plastic sheets on ceiling with fluorescent lights,we took out the ceiling, put in pot lights..painted everything! This is the AFTER. Seems to be dark, but there is an awning spanning the length of the house outside. We need it because of the heat and sun. 110-115+ is not fun.
The cabinets look dingy, but it is just shadows...we painted them . Had an electrician rewire for pot lights and light over the sink. Stove hood is still not in,because I haven't pushed for it so far. I use slow cooker! Too hot to cook!
This color paint may not be for everyone, but for me,it is cool feeling, beachy ,happy...I don't care if another owner likes it or not. They are welcome to repaint...as we did! Below..is BEFORE..
The plastic sheets were broken,cracked,yellowed...there was a 'header' on ceiling as you go in,to hold the plastic sheets. Taking that off opened the kitchen up somewhat. It was so good to see the original ceiling...but it had black wires snaking on the ceiling...for the fluorescents . Therefore the electrician! We have never done this before...again ....we learned a lot!

Cristina Addie on Jan 19, 2017Hello Bernice! First, I am so addicted to that blue! I have it all over my home. You did a beautiful job redoing your kitchen. See, you have the talent! Now build that king size headboard already! Then show me! Lol

Bernice H on Jan 19, 2017Thanks...we put the finishing touches on unpacking yesterday, and today laid down the throw carpets, the teal pillows,throws..etc. so this place is beginning to look lived in. But...another kitchen redo. Had Sears come out today...27000....not gonna happen! It is so tiny tho..oh well we shall think on something way less expensive. I painted my front door in teal also in palm desert ,maybe in spring I will do this one. Although this door is burgundy, and a real door! When weather is better and we go thrift shopping..we will consider a headboard, but the third panel is a concern. Hmmm thanks for checking in!

Cristina Addie on Jan 19, 2017I had Sears come out a few years back to reface my kitchen cabinets. The price was ridiculous! So I looked for a local wood guy and he refaced the cabinets for a fraction of the price. I'm all about cutting out the middle man and using small mom and pop shops. Best of luck with all of your projects. Have fun doing them.
