Sandra on Aug 24, 2016Sounds like a good plan if you don't want to deal with the nicks in the one stool. I'm adventurous, I go with the flow, they seem to look rather diamond shaped I think I would make diamond shaped nicks all the way around each stool, just a different look, I'd strip of course re-do the metal with chrome spray paint, do the whole stool in a shiny black lacquer, either put chrome bands around the seats or a metallic fabric in geometric shapes with padded cushion seat. Or paint Harlequin diamond shapes in chrome and black shiny black . Using the paint you have already painted it in black and just add the Chrome diamond shape. Or I would personally do them in an Austrian or German whimsical shiny true red and forest green lacq, with gold traditional designs from Germany.Helpful Reply

Geri Ann on Aug 24, 2016I would spray paint the metal to look iron. Paint the spindles a nice clean white with chalk paint and then wax. I would then leave the top natural but sand it to soften all those gouges and stain it with a walnut and seal it with a poly satin finish.Helpful Reply

Suzanne Lee on Aug 24, 2016I don't care for the metal. Could you do away with it? Like the idea of black legs with refinished top.Helpful Reply

Laurie Harry on Aug 24, 2016I agree, I don't really care for the metal band either, but I think it is there for stability. I think if I spray paint it with a hammered/texture look, it will look good. Thanks for your feedback.Helpful Reply

Laurie Harry on Aug 24, 2016I wanted to add that I think the metal band is there because these stools swivel, so it's there to put your feet on to propel you around.Helpful Reply

Julie Harding on Aug 24, 2016I like contraste. So, if you like black legs, I would do the top a bright color. Red, yellow or even green.Helpful Reply

Connie on Aug 25, 2016I think you could clean the tops and finish them in a satin finish, then paint the legs in a white and distress them. White is a classic color and probably easy to sell. Another option is to paint the top with a white paint and distress it. Maybe the legs could be a darker color like black or dark blue, but distressed also.Helpful Reply
