Help Recycle Chandelier in Candle Light
-
Mary Insana on Aug 20, 2013First I would paint it a color that coordinated with the room you will be putting it in. You could paint it a color then do a quick brush on and wipe off in a white or cream color to give you the shabby chic look. I love the look of candles but without the mess so I've been using battery operated pillar candles that have a built in timer. I found a set of 5 with batteries at Costco. I have 4 sets ! I have 2 in sconces in the bedroom, 1 on each step in my entryway, which looks nice at night looking in through our beveled front door. You could put something like that in place of where the lights were.Helpful Reply

Trudie Griffin on Aug 22, 2013I love Heather's it's great for the outside. I wouldn't use real candles on the inside, our houses aren't made for them these days, Mary's idea is wonderful.Helpful Reply

Judy on Aug 25, 2013Very similar to one I did recently. Found clear punch cups in very modern shape at Goodwill; 25 cents each and then my "senior" discount. Tinted the cups with food coloring and ModPodge. Did a very light tint, if I were doing it now, I would have made them darker. I go to Goodwill and Salvation Army stores weekly for craft pieces.Helpful Reply

Patricia W on Aug 26, 2013Im seeing tons of the hurricane replacement glass at my local goodwill. Im not sure why there are so many being donated, but if you want to look there, at your local store, or a habitat. Im also doing a candelabra out of my old thrifted cast iron chandelier, I am not using any glass or candle holder type thing. The one I have has perfect sized light bulb inserts and the rounded wax catch below each light bulb holder. It looks like candlesticks were meant to be instead of bulbs! This is going on our master bedroom balcony, it covered so no rain putting out the flames!Helpful Reply
