Trash to Treasure Picnic Basket

A trash pile in my neighborhood recently yielded several treasures including a woven wood picnic basket with a lidded top. It was covered in grime and mold when I found it, but after cleaning it and applying a coat of wood oil, it is looking pretty. Can't wait to take it on a picnic.
You should go look at the before! This baby was dirty and in desperate need of a makeover. I'm so glad that I rescued this from the trash because I use it nearly every summer weekend for picnics at the lake.
The wood looks so much better after cleaning and oiling it.
The oil really brought out the grain in the top.
I'll use the elastic band to hold serving utensils for picnics at the lake.
