Why Is Duct Cleaning So Important

Air ventilation at a building provides the oxygen that we so much need. Sometimes these air ventilation systems are in a seriously poor condition and they actually make things worse. Dust, particles, mold, mildew and insects may cause serious health issues like asthma and allergic reactions. There are some really easy steps you can take so any hazards are avoided.

Clogged, dirty air filters block normal airflow and reduce your cooling system's efficiency significantly, so it is important to routinely replace or clean your AC filters. During the cooling season, you should clean or replace your AC filter at least once a month or every other month.
  • According to the EPA duct cleaning does very little to improve the air quality of the house. However it is very important to change the filters on a regular basis and with the better the quality the less often it needs to be done. The issue comes from the dust that collects on the AC coil that acts as a filter inside causing blockage and equipment issues. Moldy smells in the fall and in the spring is often a sign that the coil is dirty and needs cleaning. However, most duct cleaning companies do not touch this part of the system. In fact in some states you must be licensed to work on the coils. Here is two coils that show you exactly what goes on inside the system. Of course however if there is large amounts of animal hair, or dirt from many years of neglect, cleaning will help prevent this from spreading around if you install a new HVAC system, but its doubtful that any mold is developing on anything other then the AC coil as the air is to dry to support mold or to hot which again dries out any moisture that the mold needs to grow.
