Hi there, I am in phase 1 of changing all my dark wooden furniture to have the beach whitewash look. I have given all the wood furniture a coat of grey chalk paint and this week-end plan on taking white chalk paint that has been a bit thinned out with water and painting over the grey and hoping this will give me the whitewash effect that I am looking for, has anyone tried this method before?

I don't know much about the painting, ,but I can't really tell what you are talking about with the photos here. What are we looking at?

It sounds like a fun project! After painting the diluted paint over your base coat, you'll want to have plenty of lint free cloths to wipe it off. If the effect is too much for your liking, then dry brush some of your base color over it and repeat until you get the look you want.

I don't know if I am seeing this right it looks like you have bleed through on this project. You might want to go over this with shellac to seal it. There are many ways to get the beachy look. Use a gray and wash it. If I want something to look beachy I use white and a glaze.

Hi , I tried and it works , but I recommend you to play with mixing water and paint - I tried two part water one part paint and didn't like the result. It was far too light , very washy ... Than tried one part paint and one part water, that had better results and i am very happy. I used Everlong Chalk paint , which already has wax inside and it is a brilliant paint, better than any other brands that I used in the past. I don't know if they sell it outside UK though ....

Just keep working with the white and gray chalk paint. chalk paint is very forgiving. wash the colors on an wipe it off until you are happy. seal it with clear or antique wax--or poly. good luck and enjoy
