Tammy@Deja Vue Designs on Aug 23, 2013It's a purple hyacinth bean vine. You can save the seeds...or even eat the beans...however...I've never eaten them...so I can't say whether or not they taste good! But the vines sure are pretty!Helpful Reply

Gardens By Design, LLC on Aug 24, 2013Purple Hyacinth bean is an annual vine. Take the pods off the vine when they start to dry. Store them over winter in a dry, frost free environment. Once the pods are completely dry you can remove the seeds from the pod. Soak the seeds overnight in water or nick the outer covering just before planting in spring. This is a wonderful plant. The hummingbirds love it in my garden.Helpful Reply

Tammy@Deja Vue Designs on Aug 24, 2013We don't even soak them....we just pock the seeds into the dirt...and water them up. They come up really easily. I even get volunteers where I misses the beans.Helpful Reply

Jinny on Sep 25, 2013I don't know what it's called, but my neighbor gave me some of the seed pods. I put them in an empty prescription bottle until the next spring. I took the pods out and put them in a coffee filter and folder the filter over them. I wet the coffee filter and left it on the counter, and in less than a week, I had sprouts. I planted the sprouts, and it did great. I know that hummingbirds love it.Helpful Reply
