Removing Old India Ink From Wood Furniture

White Oak Studio Designs
by White Oak Studio Designs
Recently we were stymied with a quarter size spot of old black ink on the top of a vintage telephone table I wanted to refinish. We tried a half dozen products and finally met the challenge with good old wood bleach. I wrote about this experience on my blog where you can find all the products used and tips for removing old ink from wood. Hometalk readers were very helpful with this challenge. http://smallhouseunderabigsky.wordpress.com/2013/08/23/removing-old-i…ains-
A vintage telephone table transformed and refreshed using chalk paint.
Almost true to eye color of the refinished table top (has a bit of a glare.) The paper and pen holder is not yet completed.
A side view showing the subtle differences in the two color of neutral paint I chose.
