Painting hutch doors
-
Jeanette S on Aug 28, 2016Oh dear! I think I would go to a glass company and inquire as to what tool and technique they would recommend. They have to replace glass all the time so they probably have a special tool or can tell you how to use a common tool to remove this molding. One thing I do know is "don't force it" because it very likely you might splinter the wood. Since you are going to paint this, you will want to remove all hardware anyway, so why not take off the doors and take them to a glass shop, have them take off the molding, and after you paint everything take it back to them to put back together. If it is worth the trouble to paint it, it might be worth it to have them help you!Helpful Reply

Maryann on Aug 28, 2016Thank you for your help. I thought I had seen a DIY video of a method of popping out the insert so it could be painted on both sides.Helpful Reply

Maryann on Sep 01, 2016I used a wide putty knife and popped the wood fretwork off the glass. I did not get this advice but decided to try it anyway. If the decorative wood had broken, I would leave the glass doors plain. But it worked so I will paint both sides and reattach to the glass cabinet doors.Helpful Reply
