Creating a Woodland Christmas Under Glass

With the days growing shorter, and the nights cooler, Fall is definitely in the air. Although most are thinking about the fall holidays....December will be here before we know it. Lamps Plus and Hometalk teamed up for a "December Holidays" contest. We were challenged to decorate these cool glass lamps any way we like for the December Holidays. My mind goes to one place when I think about December....Christmas! I love a rustic/elegant mix for Christmas decorations. The design of the lamp makes it really easy to customize however you like...as often as you like! I struggled a bit with this...for various reasons...but mostly my limited situation, as I am staying in a travel trailer...and not my home. I'm so grateful I got the opportunity to participate in this fun project.
I loved this burlap bird. By perching he and his nest on a gathering of woodland treasures, that I found on a walk, it was just the right balance of naturals.
I love elegant and rustic, woodland style Christmas decorations. By teaming up rustic and elegant...I get to have both. I think they balance each other out quite nicely.
By simply changing out the decorations, and removing the shade ribbon, you could have a different look for any season/occasion.
Be sure to leave room for your center rod to go back down through the glass of the lamp. I even attached a decoration from the top by catching the hanging string between the glass and the top plate.
This is just a sampling of the ornaments I had and ribbon for creating this project.
The lampshade got a cute little bunch of foliage and a bird to match the lamp. You could even decorate the finial...however I left it, because It resembled my ornaments.
This plate slides right over the cord so that the wing nut can snug up against the base.
By removing the wing nut, you can put the plate and base completely away for the glass portion of the lamp..to open it up for decorating.
