Susan Bechamp on Oct 30, 201550 years ago, shellac was a common finish on pine paneling, kitchen cabinets and other wooden furniture. It comes in a variety of colors from clear to yellow to orange to red. Made from the secretions of the lac beetle, Pick a inconspicuous spot and rub it with denatured alcohol. If it is shellac, it will start to liquefy and dissolve . To remove the shellac follow these tips http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Shellac To learn more about shellac, google it. Wikipedia has a good article on it.Helpful Reply
