I have some really neat boxes

Eight boxes makes a collection right? Most are vintage I Have a oak file box, a very ornate wood watch box a miniature hope chest of cedar, two covered in shells prison art or souvenir? last but not least a cigar box with a old flower decal. Simply bring them up to eye level and enjoy!

Group similar in one area of shelving, then place (like all shells) in another area of your shelving... and so on. I have natural wood in one place, shells in another room, and so on... once you do this, as time passes and you collect more, you can add to each grouping and edit your collection!
  • I like the idea of hanging some of them as floating shelves on a wall and then using them to display small treasures or other smaller boxes.

The "sewing box" is actually a mailbox, I believe... looks like one my Nana used to have.

The boxes covered in shells... a "sea inspired" arrangement with sea grass and sea greenary would be really pretty. Just leave the lid partially open and let it rest against the arrangement when you insert it into the box. These would also look great in a "sea inspired" bathroom or bedroom...

i have been collecting old LANE mini chests for my grands they seem to be at many second hand stores in CT. And for my ladies I am going to start picking up vintage jewels. As I understand these were given with a gift certificate in them for the girl to go pick out her own hope chest. At least that is what I was told.

There is a post on Hometalk called 'Decor ideas for old window frames' where she has used an old window frame as the front of a shadow box. If you used a smaller window frame than in her example, it would look great for the shell boxes. If you put small compartments into the sewing box it would work well for all sorts of collections, such as beads and shells.
