I want to paint a sunmica table
I want to paint an old table which has sunmica over it, which paint should I use? Will that stay?

William on Sep 08, 2016Just like painting any laminate. Wash the table with TSP! Lightly sand to remove any gloss and create a tooth for paint. Prime with KILZ or BIN. Paint with acrylic paint. Seal with two coats of water based polyurethane sanding in between coats.Helpful Reply

Cindy Hagemann on Sep 09, 2016William is correct for regular paint - but if you use chalk paint there is no prep, just start painting! That is my favorite way to paint furniture!Helpful Reply

Sue c. on Sep 10, 2016Just a question- What is "sunmica"? Formica laminate by a manufacturers name? And yes William has got the process for regular paint down pat; Marketing Momx4 is also right about chalk paint. You get to make a lovely choice! Good luck.Helpful Reply
