Paint it with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Old White or Paris Grey.

Add solar lights and hang outside. It has a cool shape.

I would leave it natural and shine it up. It would make an incredible side table or plant stand, cut a round piece of wood, glass, or anything you might have already. It is a very cool piece! I love it 😄

Looks like a stand for an end table to me.

Hang pipes from it to make chimes

I agree with the solar light decoration for outside. I would spray paint it a different color for a very dramatic look.

Take the fitting out, turn it upside down, put a decorative globe in it and either use it inside as decor or outside in the garden... Paint it a flat black to look like wrought iron...

You could try chalk painting it... would look fabulous. They have a multitude of colors and you can paint anything with chalk paint.

Using the large round end for the base. Tale the fitting out so you have a flat surface and glue a plate and then a shallow antique bowl on top of the plate and use it in your garden or on your patio for a butterflies and birds to drink from.

Some spray paint and then use a very very fine sand paper to weather it. Depends on what look you want to achieve. This method will give it a weathered look. I did several pieces in our home with this technique they came out great.

It looks like it was meant to have a glass fitting on the base to hide those light bulbs. There are some really nice new spray paints that give an oiled bronze or other finish that could be used on the metal portions, maybe with something to highlight (subtly) the details. I think it would be really nice when done. If you don't have the glass portion, perhaps Restoration Hardware would have something; or it's a good excuse for antiquing/garage saling.

I would spray paint white (it would then match bulb holders) and wire a couple birds to it, as it kinda reminds me of a bird cage...I think that would be a cute whimsical look :)

Remove all wiring. Paint to desired taste. Hang from a ceiling hook and chain. Find or make a planter to fit the circular opening. Plant a climbing vine type plant. (Whatever grows well where you live). Or turn it into a fancy small pot rack / utensil rack with a few S-hooks.

I would paint the whole thing black and add some gold leaf or gold spray paint applied with a paper towel/ plastic bag.

If you don't require it for actual electrical lighting, cut the rod off at the knobby thing that holds the electrical light sockets, spray paint it any colour that matched your decor, and discretely hot-glue small glass votive holders along the circular part, and voila! A lovely, romantic candle-holder! :)

Wow! Are you going to show a pic of what you end up with? I've attached a pic of what I would like to do for an inconvenient corner of our home. Those are not crystals but fine chain links.... I would take all the wiring out, clean it and then, depending on how much money it cost, decide whether to have someone plate it with nickel or do it myself.... Then I would install some interior LED lights using some light weight wires to create a degrading spiral. Last I would solder on some very fine chain links. Sorry, I am just like that.

I would paint it and come up with a lighting idea like something that's see through glass a pretty clear bowl you can drill a hole in for making a nice accent to a pretty bulb like a Edison bulbs.

Paint for sure and add a glass bowl fixture to cover the light....this is probably what was originally there. If you want to go really crazy, instead of a bowl fixture, use rings and hand real crystals from them for a true chandelier look. Of course, you will have to keep in mind where your want to hang it since it will be much longer if you do it this way.

take your chandalIr to a lighting store abd try different shades or globes till you find the obe you like best or take your chandalIr apart, paint the parts you want to keep and reassemble using only the parts you like. Buy a shade or globe to match your color scheme or your presences and call it done.

I have also attached a link, I personally am saving some water jugs for this project, not sure what design but thrifty and pretty, also mixing some paint with a clear drying glue to paint pieces of the jug to add to design makes it look like stained glass... https://www.google.com/search?q=diy+chandelie...

I checked Etsy but liked Amazon's choices and prices better. Make sure you get crystal. And not the plastic.
  • Candice Candice on Sep 20, 2016
Spray paint it black then buy some solar lights and attach them instead of the real lights and hang it outside in a tree. It's a fun look!

use a foam brush to outline it in verdigris green. Then wax it until it glows and find a large glass fixture like the one in the attached photo - usually they show up at thrift stores or buy a cheap glass one online and etch it with the pattern of your choice. You can go geometric or softly echo the fern pattern in the body of the fixture - plan it so that the light hits the contrast and makes patterns that are pleasing in the room you are hanging it in. Choose daylight spectrum bulbs in a lower wattage over LED - the type of bulb and how the light hits your walls and ceiling will make or break the chandelier.
