Who do we hire to move furniture, boxes, etc. in our house?
We're trying to create a better floor plan for our storage room and need some helping hands moving furniture, boxes and other odds and ins in a certain timeframe. We need some helping hands to do this but are not sure where to look. Do we look for handymen services? Movers? Or? Who have you all called to help move?
Thanks!
UPDATE: We've tried calling handymen, but most won't do the job. :(

William on Sep 19, 2016You can call some temporary job staffing services. There are some that hire out people by the day+.Helpful Reply

Dee on Sep 20, 2016Maybe some neighborhood teens. Contact local school district. Depending on you age you could contact Senior Citizens clubs too.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Sep 20, 2016Since you are paying people, your homeowner's insurance is invalid if they break something or hurt themselves...say a pulled muscle! I would suggest calling a labor employment agency...it may cost a little more, but their workmen's comp is covered (however, be sure an inquire!) I am thinking of hiring some yard help this way! Be sure you explain exactly what you want and for how long you want them!Helpful Reply

Cheryl Bruner on Sep 27, 2016Call the local Salvation Army Shelter. I've hired the men for my last 5 moves and have never had any problems. I've never felt uneasy with them being in my homes; even though I am elderly and single. I just tell the shelter supervisor what I need help with and they hand pick the men. They want you to have a good experience because it reflects back on the shelter and the need the men to work! The men appreciate someone giving them a chance also! I've seen some of the men later, in permanent jobs and they always take time to visit with me.Helpful Reply
