Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Sep 12, 2013To adhere the wood trim onto a metal frame. There are several products that you can try. A good quality contractors adhesive that comes in a caulking gun will work. So will the trim adhesive used to hold vinyl base moldings. Contact cement will also work well, but if your not careful with that you can get the molding to stick in the wrong place making it difficult if not impossible to remove. Using the contractors adhesive or any good quality glue for that matter, you will need to use painters tape to hold the wood into position until the stuff dries. Depending on how much you use, and you do not need a lot. IT can take a full day before your able to remove the tape. And even then it may take a few more days to really set up. If the wood will be against wall board you can use a good wood glue on that edge and simply fasten the trim to the wall using small trim nails and glue. Then using a good quality caulk fill the tiny space between the metal and the wood trim to make it smooth and appear to be as one piece instead of two. You need to remember the metal expands and contracts with heat different then wood and also a greater amount. This can cause over time the wood to come loose. But by fastening the trim to the wall and allow the trim to float against the metal and simply fill the tiny gap with a good quality silicone that can be painted. This will last the longest. And look the best much longer.Helpful Reply
