Concrete Birdbath

Tanya Morris Daub on Sep 17, 2013If you're going to keep it as a bird bath be careful what you use on it. It could leave residual effects that may hurt or kill wildlife.Helpful Reply

Drought Smart Plants on Sep 17, 2013@ I would remove the paint by either using a blow torch or sand blaster, depending on what kind of paint it is. I prefer the look of stone or concrete that has been aged a bit with moss on it, rather than paint which most likely will just peel off. If it's leaking, and can't be used for a birdbath, make it into a succulent planter. Can't wait to see how it turns out!Helpful Reply

Carole on Sep 17, 2013I agree with Tanya Morris Daub and Drought Smart Plants comments. Take care what you use as you may do the birds more harm than good. If you were using it as a planter rather than a birdbath, you would still need to exercise some care in the chemicals you use. I prefer the natural, aged look for that style of birdbath too. I think strong colours in birdbaths belong with the glazed ones. I think yours might look better left natural. Just my humble opinion!Helpful Reply
