How I Jumped on the Pallet Art Bandwagon!

So, you've all seen a ton of projects using pallet wood, right? Well, I put off trying to make something of my own for a long time. Until this summer when our neighbor had a couple pallets sitting by the curb ready for the garbage truck. I saw this as a sign and had my husband grab them for me!
The pallets sat in our driveway for quite months while I decided what to do with them. Finally I had the idea to use an old mirror frame and one of the pallets to make this fun and funky vertical display.
We started by disassembling one pallet and the mirror. Then we cut the boards lengthwise (ripping) to straighten them out a bit. We popped out the nail heads on the ends of the boards and then cut them to fit in the mirror frame.
After all the boards were cut, I washed them with bleach and soapy water. Then I painted the frame with a couple coats of Chalk Paint® and we attached the boards to the back of the frame with a nail gun. We used picture hanging hardware to hang it and then I spiffed it up with some simple fall decor!

Redeemwood on Mar 10, 2015FYI- If you like this fantastic...! just please don't use a table saw that way. Leave the kickback and blade safety guards on for your own protection.....
