Should the drain basket match the faucet?

I saved a beautiful cast iron enamel sink from doom. Before it actually gets installed do I change the drain basket? If so should it match the color of the new faucet?

Great sink! Normally they match. However if it is a difference between brushed and chrome, it may not be a big deal. Brass and chrome on the other hand would clash.

I agree "silver" color matching is preferred brushed nickle, chrome or whatever. But whatever you prefer. If anyone questions or comments, tell them to find matching fixtures for you. It is a pretty sink. I took an enamel sink out of a house I just bought because it was rusty around the edges and I wanted a double bowl. Enjoy your sink.

If it is a matter of age (gasket), I would change it out (cheap enough). If it is a matter of matching preexisting/planned hardware from the rest of the room, I say "do it!" LOL! It will be a nice touch.

I agree with B. Enne! Normally they should match. Some may not like the look of metal against the sink and install a white basket to blend with the white sink. It's a personal choice.

Agreed totally personal choice. I do mix metals, however that is my contemporary taste.

I agree with William. If you match the color of the sink, then your faucet can be any color!

Thank you all so much. I want to change it out but I don't know if I can convince my husband, he is just ready to be done it it! Go figure!

Don't blow a gasket over this! (hehehe) Let your husband be happy, it can always be changed out later or just do it quick while you send him out on another 'honey-do' chore.
