CHALK PAINT!!

I found this tired dresser at a garage sale by my place. My husband hated it, but I saw its beauty right away!
So when I was able to get all my supplies together, I ran to get my favourite paint: CHALK PAINT!!!!
I love garage sales! You never know what you're gonna find! This time, I found this damaged dresser.
I removed the metal pieces pulling the nails with the back of a hammer carefully

and the veneer, which was already peeling in some places, with the heat gun warming up the veneer and peeling it with a metal spatula. Make sure don't force it. It will come loose with the gun
Next, I filled all the nail holes with wooden filler. You can apply it with the metal spatula, I rather use my own fingers.
I just put the handles back on, because I found that it was perfect the way it was already.

And then I start painting!! I painted red inside first...
...And after, Scandinavian pink for the exterior..love this color!!!!
It looked lovely just like that, but not quite how I wanted it to look!
So I waxed with antique wax to give it this brownish tone
And then I sanded it just a bit in the corners and the handles to show the metal and a bit of pink
After a few days in the garage to let the wax dry, I found it a home in the living room!
Suggested materials:
  • Annie Sloan paint and antique wax   (Apple box in Edmonton, you can get it online too)
  • Cheesecloth, brushes and a heat gun to remove the venner   (Most of this you can get at the dollar store. The hitter at the hobby store.)
  • Metal Spatula and Hammer

You don't make a mention as to what and how you used for the top! Looks pricey.

The metal trim is absolutely gorgeous. Why didn't you put it back on?

I need to know about the heat gun lol I tried using my mom's heat gun to lift veneer, but it just didn't work. But I think hers was more of a hobby/embossing type. Can you (or anyone reading this) advise me on where i should go to find one suitable for projects like this? Reliable brands? Certain specifications that i should look for when shopping for one? Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated!
