Black and White Rooms Inspired by Fashion

I was fascinated by the exploration of black and white, a color combination that is more versatile than any other. Black and white can be contemporary or traditional, minimal or over-the-top, sleek or rough, moody or refined, orderly and liberating, witty or stark and sterile, timeless or trendy.

@Mary there are some beautiful lamps at the local Dollar General Stores that are currently on clearance in our area. They are bedside table lamps that are black Eiffel Towers, and the shades are white or black and white. I think they would look fantastic in this room!

@Therese C I have an office/computer room that has an Eiffel Tower theme. Is their a rule of thumb for the size of lamp a person should use?

There may be, however, I think it is all a matter of personal taste. Stand back, look at it, and see if over powers what it is near or if the area swallows the lamp. Many people make the mistake of having a table too low near a couch or bed and try to use a taller light. The result? Off balance. If the lamp is near a couch, bed, or chair, it is said that the best height for a lamp is one that allows the light to spread approximately 1 1/2- 2 feet into the 'reading' area. Placed anywhere else in the house it is a matter of what you personally like. :)
