Elfriede was my mothers legal name. Not too common here in the States. ☺ To answer your question, this is one time to spend money. If contractors in your area still give free estimates, line a bunch of them up and pick their brain for free. Then, contract to have them do the tub, shower sink installation only. And / or any electrical work. You can do the rest on your own. That will cut your costs by a chunk. If you do demo yourself you can save even more. All depends on what you are comfortable doing yourself. Hope this gives you a different perspective to consider.
Believe it or not I just saw an ad on TV that solves your problem. It looks like a formed tub that goes right over the old tub. When finished, it looks like a new tub. You can look online and if I see it again I will send you the link.
