Lauren Little on Sep 27, 2013Thank you so much for all advice!:) I'm going for farmhouse look, we rent so unfortunately can't change some things however sofa and chairs will be covered in duck cloth and that orange ribbon is a fall runner and was put out prior to rug:)Helpful Reply

Tamela Bowie Interiors on Sep 27, 2013Hello Lauren, I love the current rug that you have in the space. However, to give the space more of a farmhouse feel, I would simply lay a smaller sisal rug on-top of your existing rug. This would give a great layering effect and help with pulling the farmhouse decorating theme together. Good luck!Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Sep 28, 2013I love this rug! One of the best colors to use with this cream/taupe/black combination is a deep burgundy, moving up to accents in a brighter cranberry.Helpful Reply

Gretchen on Sep 28, 2013You could really change out the accent colors with the season. Pillows, flowers, table runner, etc could be burgundy in the fall and winter (or even red for the holidays), the greens or yellow-gold for spring and maybe cream or off white for summer.Helpful Reply

Beth Hyatt on Sep 28, 2013Love it! you have given me just what I needed. I have already brought in the butter creams and golds. I use gold with a small touch of red during the Christmas Holidays! Cyndi Daves on Sep 28, 2013Lauren I would go with red or a burnt-orangey red for accent. Golds and buttercreams will complement but you need something to grab the eye and really pop. Which will also take attention away from the rug which really isn't a traditional farmhouse style.Helpful Reply

Sarah Jackson on Sep 28, 2013I know you've already gotten several great suggestions but if you don't mind, I'd like to add one more. I'd decide on two or three colors I like the most in the rug, then go to the paint store and find paint chips that look as close to those colors as possible. Bring them home, match the chips to the rug colors and use those when shopping. The advantage is that the paint chips give you your matching color as well as "tones" of that same color that will also work well with it. Hope that makes sense.Helpful Reply

Jean DeSavage on Sep 28, 2013Lauren, with the wood paneling on the wall, the beige flooring, and the neutrals in your rug, you could use any color. Pick you favorite color and use that to accent your room. You could have pillow covers that you could change out with the seasons. Light cool colors for the summer, deeper, warmer colors for the winter months. By keeping your accent pieces smaller, you can change them out more economically, with pillows, throws, maybe some flowers, etc.Helpful Reply

Claudia Mitcham on Oct 03, 2013I have lately become thoroughly enamored of bright, cheerful colors - I certainly wouldn't recommend my "gypsy's heart" explosion of colors to anyone, but maybe consider something of a pale seafoam, lilac, or even coral for something a little more quirky and eye-catching....just a thought outside the box :-)..Helpful Reply
