How to build a home bar?

I'm looking to build a home bar out of wood and granite.

  • I would also Google and see what you come up with. Plus next time you are in a bar, chat with the bartenders to see what they suggest. Also depends upon whether or not you want to build it in or freestanding. For the granite top, I would visit local stoneyards as they frequently have leftover pieces from large slabs that they sell at a greatly discounted price. I fell upon a piece that was perfect for a tabletop for $25.

    I made a bar using one ft sq granite tiles and made sure my plywood bar top was an exact fit for the granite so I would not have to make any cuts. Measure and allow room for the grouting. Just glue on and grout. I trimmed with narrow wood molding and stained it to match the granite.
