How to Remove Laminate Adhesive From Cabinets?

by Kd
I live in a mid-century home and i am interested in restoring the original kitchen cupboards. They are plywood with a maple(?) veneer that was covered in old white plastic laminate when we moved in. I pulled that all off and now i have to get glue off w/out damaging the wood or soaking and swelling (ruining) the plywood underneath the veneer. Help?
Adhesive is thicker in some spots than others. I like the wood veneer and want to take care not to scratch or damage it or the plywood underneath.

I want to know if there is anyway to redo the old 70's style pressed wood cupboards with a paperlike cover over that? I have not been able to get any answers on this question
