I wanted something different to add some seasonal decor and color to my front room. When I saw this $5 piano bench at the thrift store, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!
The first step is sanding it cleaning off the dust and sanding it down on the top and legs to give it the smoothest finish possible. It may not be perfect, but it won't matter.
I applied 3 coats of an antiqued white paint to the bench and let dry, removing the lid first. Then after all was dried, I painted the inside of the lid (while still unattached) and stenciled in this "Gather" stencil that I bought from Ebay. While most people usually display their piano benches with the lid closed I wanted to fill my bench with decor for the season! (and I plan to change it up for each season too!) Once my piece was finished drying I put the lid back on on and sealed my paint with a clear wax. And done! Bonus: the basket underneath was also a thrift store purchase from the same day! Love my new entry way look for under $10!
