If you use glass paint available at craft stores such as Micheal's no preparation or primer is necessary other than washing it. You might even find it in the craft isle at Wal-mart. Chalk Paint is a trademark for paint developed by Anne Sloan. Chalk Paint® is different. It is not paint with chalk added to it. It is not chalkboard paint. It is not made by adding plaster of Paris or grout or even baking soda to an existing paint. Chalk Paint® is the unique decorative paint developed for furniture, floors and walls, drawing on a lifetime of research and experience in working with paint and color by Anne Sloan.

People who have used the homemade chalk paint think it works just as well as the Anne Sloan paint. Few people can afford her paint.......it is around $35 a quart.

A art teacher told me to put a little Delta ceramcoat varnish in my puddle of acrilic paint when painting on glass. I have even put it in the dishwasher.

Before you paint on glass you clean it with alcohol to remove any oil from your hands and any dirt thats there.Any strength will work
