Easy Way to Make a Seashells & Sea Urchins Decorative Hanger

$1
60 Minutes
Medium
Every summer we collect seashells & sea urchins, we bring our little "treasures" in our home and then we don't know what to do with them. We usually store them in jars and boxes, where nobody sees them. Decorative hangers is a beautiful DIY solution for our balcony, bathroom and other areas of our home
I will need:
1) seashells, sea urchins and other small decorative accessories and beads from old faux bijoux and accessories.
2) a thick needle and small pins
3) a piece of fishing line or thick thread
4) a small piece of twine
Steps
1) Make small holes to the seashells and sea urchins, using a thick needle or a pin. Some shells are soft and you can drill them easily. Other have hard shells and you must use drill or rotary tool bit, to put holes in them. Choose the easy to begin, or even collect seashells that already have holes on them!
2) Put all the stuff in the desirable order. Between seashells and sea urchins, you can use beads and other small metallic or wooden decorative accessories. I've put some small dried plant parts (pieces from a dried palm leaf) and cinnamon sticks, in order to give width and balance to my creation.
3) I pass the materials carefully through the fishing line.
4) I make a strong slipknot with the piece of twine and I truss it with the rest hanger.

Very creative way to display your collection of shells. Could you tell me what that flat looking piece is that is between some of the shells, not the cinnamon sticks but the other thing. Thanks for the great idea!!

@Carolyn Bennet Ford Hi Carolyn ! Happy you like it ! These are pieces from a dried bouquet of palm leaves I bought from IKEA ! I cut a leaf in small rectangles in different lengths and made a hole in the center, using a needle. They are cheap and you can use them in many decorative projects ! Happy creations ☺!

Thanks you Joanna, I like the way it separates the shells. Another project for me to try with my small granddaughter, she lives near the ocean in California!!
