Flower Ideas for Barrel Pots and Planters

When I'm visiting new gardens, I always have the curiosity to see the choices and the combinations that the owners make - which flower they choose to plant and in what pot or planter. Of course, creativity and imagination hit a zenith in provinces where there is plenty of space, permanent communication with nature and many "green" potentials. These ideas come from a village of Northern Greece in the region of Prespes, where stone and wood prevail in architecture and match perfectly with barrel pots and planters.

The barrels are unique looking. I love all the stone and aged wood in European countries.

I planted a wisteria in a very large half barrel this summer so it would climb my pergola that is on a deck.. I am hoping it will not freeze the roots this winter...

@Elizabeth Peters Your half-barrel may contain your wisteria for a few years, but I'll bet the roots will burst it sooner than you think.
