Does anyone know how to remove residue from scotch tape on old window

There is a 3/4 inch wide line of residue across the entire width of the glass of an old window which was caused by scotch tape. Does anyone have an idea of how to remove it. I've tried using a razor, but it's not working. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Goo-gone or Goof-off. Both are the best adhesive removers and are available at your local Ace hardware of big box stores. Gary

Saturate it with vinegar and let it sit for several minutes. Then rub it off. The glue balls up and comes off pretty easily.

I use margarine to remove tape. Old stickers. Be generous n let stand for a couple of days. I test to see if it starts to slide around. Remove n wash with soapy warm water.
