Norma on Oct 28, 2016I did a dark file cabinet with chalk paint and liked it because because didn't need sanding or filling or anything. I didn't distress it, but you can and then the walnut will come thru. Yes you need to wax it or seal it. I used a neutral wax so it didn't change the color. Google chalk paint for the recipe and the tips and suggestions. Good luck!Helpful Reply

Mandy Loriot on Oct 29, 2016Chalk paint sticks to just about anything, but if the surface is slick, you can rough it up a little bit with steel wool. If you want, you could use a coat of Zinnser primer first, and then do chalk paint. How thick the paint is affects the texture, and whether or not you end up with brush strokes. Depending on the look you want, you may or may not want them, especially if you use dark wax on top of the clear wax.Helpful Reply
