Our stairs were covered with old, worn out carpet that had definitely seen better days. We removed the carpet and used paint and beadboard to give the stairs a new look. This project was very easy and only cost us about $112.00!

Jan Loehr on Mar 31, 2015What an awesome job! Never saw this idea of beadboard as backing and gray steps! I did our staircase several years ago & used the trim on each side of each step to cover the gaps...we used an adhesive to attach them...love the strip across each step though and wondered what adhesive you used for these.

ShelleyN on Dec 05, 2015Your stairs look great! We're about to paint our stairs grey and white - also after ripping out old gross carpet. What color grey did you use? Thanks!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Hello. Exactly what kind of bead board did you use? I've seen so many options like MDF,DPI, etc. Have you found it to be resistant against high traffic?
Can you remember the cost that Lowe charges to do the cuts? Thanks
Hello, I realize that this is a really old post but I was hoping that you would remember the paint color you used on the steps. It is beautiful! Thanks so much in advance!
