Mary Ruth on Oct 18, 2013I have seen these in Nova Scotia, some were used as door stops (filled with sand). I have looked for one of these, mostly painted on old moonshine jugs that were once used to store apple cider. Some were pottery and others clear glass with the landscape painted on the jar in oils. GREAT FIND!Helpful Reply

Karen McLendon on Oct 18, 2013My mother is a long time(40+ years) professional crafter and she had a friend that painted jars and other things just like that...I am pretty sure she painted your jar. Her name was Betty Jane Myers. She passed away about 15 years ago. Her friends collect her paintings and they are gaining in popularity.Helpful Reply

Jill Klein on Oct 18, 2013It IS pretty! You can get that look by using acrylic and a sponge - look at the pores on the sponge to make sure it is what you want. After painting, you'll need a sealer to make sure the paint won't come off.Helpful Reply

Debbie Moore on Oct 20, 2013Yes I do. In 200 & 2001 I belonged to a book club and one of the art projects was painting on quart jars. Look at amazon or any online book sales for craft books it was dedicated just to that project.Helpful Reply
