Turn a Bath Towel Into Coordinated Wall Art...and It's Kid Friendly!

If you are like me, I don’t like investing too much money when it comes to decorating for kids. Their tastes changes quicker than the seasons. So when it came time to decorate my son’s bathroom, I had to get creative. I found a towel that I loved. It was bright, cheerful, and not too “baby-ish”. The problem was I couldn’t find anything I liked to add color to the walls. So I decided to use the towel as my wall art.
Here is a quick picture tutorial, without too much explanation…the pictures tell the story!
I started with this towel in my son’s bathroom.
I added some coordinating paint and 6 – 8×8 white canvas from the craft store.
Threw in an enthusiastic 3 1/2 year old, who was ready to get painting…
After a trip to the office supply store for colored and enlarged photo copies of the towel I had this…
I took his painted canvas, cut out the photocopied images of the towel
and had this…
A little Modge Podge, a little distressed ink, and some old-fashioned “crumbling of paper technique” (think paper bags in grammar school), I had this…
And more importantly, I had a very happy and proud little boy who created his own artwork for his bathroom. And a happy mom (me) for inexpensive wall decor, that completely coordinates!
Everyone’s happy!
