Is That A Gourd Or A Ghost?

One of my local farm markets always has huge bins of dried gourds this time of year. Of course you can always make birdhouses with them. But they also make fun ghosts!
Just spray paint them white. Use black paint for their eyes and mouth (ghosts don't have noses). And throw some cheesecloth over them (found at the grocery store in the food utensil aisle). Fun, cheap and easy. And spooky, can't forget the spooky!
If your dried gourds are still dirty when you buy them , you can clean the crusty stuff off the gourds by soaking them for a few hours in a bucket of water with dish detergent and a splash of bleach added. Then use a scrubbing sponge to scrub off the dirt and mold. Let them dry before painting.
