I Turned Scrap Wood Into a Decorative Sled!

I gathered scrap wood leftover from the previous homeowners and put together a great porch decoration for the winter!
I gathered the scrap wood and decided which pieces would make the best sled without too much work! Any size wood will do, a decorative sled can be any size!
I trimmed the top edges of the boards to a general sled shape and cut support boards to attach on the front and back.
Before attaching the support pieces, I sanded the edges of the boards. I also cut runners for the bottom of the sled.
After sanding, I screwed the back support pieces on, attached the runners with screws, and then glued the front strips of wood on. It looks pretty good so far!
I primed the entire sled, front and back. Then painted two coats of white on the front and the runners a dark olive green. I freehand painted an olive green circle and a the first letter of our last name, "J", in white. I painted "the Jaffe family" in with a gold paint pen underneath.
It's finished! I can't wait for the winter months to display this on our front porch!

I love this idea. Good for craft sales too. Thank you for the good idea.

Wonderful! I was inspired by a smaller version I saw at Home Goods. Their piece was a bit more rustic and had a snow scene painted on it. I had to paint all of mine white, though, because of my scrap wood. I love it anyway!
