Chalk paint would be the best if you don't want to do much sanding.

You can use a liquid deglosser to remove any shine and prep for paint.

A lot depends on the condition of your cabinets. I've heard good & bad stories about the kits. Bottom line, your paint has to have something to grab hold of. If you can put water on them & see a little bit of a difference, then it will grab. If you don't, you will need a really good primer like Zinsser or BIN or sand first.

I've tried the no-sand kits, and while they look good, they don't really hold up too well. I know sanding stinks, but it is really important to give your cabinet surfaces some tooth so the paint adheres. Good luck.

I've used the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation kits many times and on different substrates. It is amazing!! I do apply 2 coats of the sealer that comes in the kit and it holds up beautifully. Watch the video that comes with the kit and follow their instructions. I wish I could buy the sealer separately. That stuff is awesome!!
