I have a patio, not a deck, with a pergola and I love it.

I had a pergola over my backyard patio and had it torn down. The reason: too much bird poop in my hair, on my book, and on the patio.

@Cookie I get bird poop just sitting outside on our patio ;-) I guess they're hanging out in our neighbor's huge trees that also overhang into our yard. But that's OK. It's washes out just fine...hee hee! As my dad, a lifelong rancher would say, "It's organic!" :-)
