Thanks at least you don't think they are that dirty. But you are looking through the glass, I was trying to clean them but the clips are stuck and I can't get the window out. Any suggestion on how to get it out?

If I am correct I am looking through the double pane window at a brick wall. To clean this window open the clips, clean front and back of each window then replace glass and close the clips.

Hi, thanks for answering. And you are correct but the clips can open but the window is stuck, these windows are 46 years old and probably hasn't been cleaned/opened in that many years.

HI, not familiar with these types of window but I looked at your picture carefully and it looks like there might be silicone sealant on the outside around the window. Is this a case where the window is being held by the silicone?

My last house had joulasie (sp?) Windows which evidently had not been cleaned in years. I tried everything but none of the cleaners did the job (some made them worse) until I bought automobile windshield cleaner. I have used nothing else on windows and mirrors since with spotless results.

I am not familiar with this type of window but if it has not been removed for years? it might just be a case of running a putty or filler knife along the outside edge to break the grip of the dirt holding it after such a long time. worth a try! good luck

If your problem is not being able to remove the window then you would be smart to vet someone from a good window company to come and do this. It could be that there is a lot of pressure on this window due to house movement or some other problem and it could break if you try to force it out. Please call a professional.

I agree, call a pro. Messing up the construction of the window may be $$$$.

Call the company that put the windows in or call the custom service dept. at the manufacturer

A pair of suction cup handles like these may help. http://www.harborfreight.com/dual-cup-suction... If that does not give you the pull needed to overcome stuck windows and calling a professional is not in the budget, you could wash the outside with one of the hose end window washing cleaner systems.

I don't think they are meant to be removed, mine aren't. I clean the inside from the inside and the outside from outside.

      What is TSP?
  • Sharon Novotni Sharon Novotni on Nov 18, 2016
tri sodium phosphate...you can buy the new more environmental friendly version in walkmart....

https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/002489.h... -Says TSP is a poison and do not get it on you, or breath it. I prefer Simple Green. Cleans everything and smells nice and won't burn your skin..Walmart.

TSP can be safely used when diluted properly. Hometalk hacks often use vinegar as an ingredient. Pure or high concentrate vinegar/acetic acid is also very dangerous. But, diluted, it is safe and can be consumed. Personally, I have never found Simple Green to clean as well as other cleaners.

These appear to be wood framed windows manufactured by Pella. I have these windows throughout my home. My home is over 30 years old, and I have not had to replace any of them. I would recommend contacting Pella for cleaning instructions. Having said that.... I clean my windows, by first removing the inside pane. I open all the tabs, then pull on the tabs to remove the pane. There is, what I believe to be a "rubber" seal on the inside pane. Sometimes that seal gets a little sticky, so you may have to pull and "jiggle" a little. I clean the glass, and the frame.

I let them air dry a little, to be sure they are completely dry before I resassemble.

If by chance you break a pane, I believe you can order replacements.

    Good Luck
