Cats

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Oct 25, 2013First question: did they ever spray or urinate outside of the kitty litter before? Are they spayed/neutered? Are they indoor/outdoor cats? I have to say that I have never heard of a cat doing this before. When a cat is stressed they can do this but it does not make sense in the kitchen-it is usually furniture, carpet, or clothes left on the floor that smell. did you switch kitty litter? If yes, then the odor is driving them crazy. Did you add a cat, dog, animal, kid or other person to the house? If yes, to a cat, then you need to know that this is probably a territorial thing. There is also a need to have more than 1 kitty litter box for 4 cats. Are you sure it is all 4 cats doing this? there could be one showing his domination over the others. Cats with balls do this LOL The smell, well, that is going to take a lot of cleaning and you could use white vinegar but I would go and buy some products specifically made to eliminate pet odors and they are not cheap. Good luckHelpful Reply

Lin R on Oct 26, 2013My friend tells me that putting aluminum foil on the stove and counter tops will keep them off. She also puts it on her car in the garage so they will not scratch the car. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Kat Davis-Moran on Nov 03, 2013spay / nueuter them if they are not, keep them inside, and yes the foil works great, a spray bottle during the day while you can watch them is awesome to. give them a little spray of water, vinegar wash will get rid of the smell n disinfect to.Helpful Reply

Jeanne888 on Nov 04, 2013I have had good luck in keeping my cats from clawing on furniture by putting wide sticky tape (like packing tape) sticky side up. They do not like the sticky feeling! I haven't had to use the tape on counters, but I'm sure it would work. I have also read about a device that when put on counters, furniture, etc., emits a loud alarm when the animal jumps on it!Helpful Reply
