Making a pincone Christmas tree
-
The Garden Frog with C Renee on Oct 31, 2013The problem with styrofoam is that not just any glue will work and the glue is expensive for styrofoam. How big of a tree? You can start with a cardboard base and start by hot gluing pincones in a circle and building up using large and sometimes small pinecones to fill in holes and gaps. I would not not buy pinecones~go to a park (have to be careful with taking from a park), walk the neighborhood, or go in the woods to pick up pinecones. there are usually abundant amounts and asking someone who has a pine tree saves them from picking them up.Helpful Reply

Cathy Simpson on Dec 14, 2015I took chicken wire and formed it in a cone shape, then I took white lights and wired the lights so the light was sticking outward and cord was in the inside. Then I wired the pine cones onto the frame. Plugged it in and it lasted for years and was beautiful as well. I used all shapes of cones, and I made sure the lights stuck out from between the cones.Helpful Reply
