Replacing our linoleum floors with tile

We are pulling up old linoleum from the kitchen floor and carpeting from the living area directly behind the kitchen island and replacing them(hopefully) with the latest Luxury Vinyl Tile. My husband is excellent at figuring out how to do things but this is not your average bear! We will have to "tack down" the existing carpet to the new Plank Flooring ( they are just like laying wood flooring ) but we have never done that either. Any help from those who have already done this in the recent past would be gratefully appreciated! Thanks for being here!

In many situations, an answer is too long to post here or too detailed (would take up too much space), so a link to a site with the answer is shorter, quick and helpful. ***** There are transition moldings/strips available that seam dissimilar floor coverings. Wood flooring, carpet, vinyl, tile to each other. ***** http://www.homedepot.com/b/Flooring-Flooring-...

Most important part is not to skimp on money or the time it takes to prepare sub-flooring. That will determine how successful your new floor is. imho

WE did this just this month in our Lake House cabin. for sure you must lay a new subfloor after you remove the old flooring as the rough spots will come through. In addition it is very important to scribe in an area that is not conspicuous as to not show where your floor is not square. Good luck ;)
