if all else fails. you can always take that mug and create a mosaic trivat for another beloved mug. 😁
Hi, if it was me I would use a product called SUGRU it is permanent, waterproof . check out their website https://sugru.com/ good luck
I would use it for pens and pencils on my desk - that way you still get to enjoy it on a daily basis!
An old remedy used before super glue was around is to place the cracked item in enough whole milk to cover in sauce pan and bring to a boil. Boil for 20 to 30 minutes, then carefully take cracked item out to cool. I did this once with a saucer and it worked. It's worth a try if that is your favorite cup. I think the calcium in the milk seals the crack.
My SuperGlue is still holding strong. Possibly, different brands of Superglue have different capabilities.
I would never try to use it for a coffee cup again. However you could use it to hold pencils next to the phone. My next door neighbor tried to save a baking dish one time by glueing it together, the first time she washed it(by hand) it broke in the sink and she cut her hand pretty bad and hat to get 8 stitches, and couldn't use her hand for several weeks. So so not worth taking a chance.
Get hydrogen peroxide cream from beauty supply not 3%, stronger then dunk cup, plates whatever is crazed in this solution in a plastic bucket filled with this stuff may take up to 2 weeks will eliminate dark crazing lines and repair them. Keep checking it, works on things that were painted then fired not on cold painted items.
You want a "food contact safe" product. 2 good products are:
Dap 00688 All-Purpose Adhesive Sealant, 100% Silicone
(and)
Sil-Bond rtv 4500,Food Grade NSF FDA RTV Silicone Sealant Adhesive
Someone also suggested "Sugru", but I can't find the post. I think that could work also, but it is expensive and you have to use it within 2 months or it dries out and becomes unusable. I bought some when it first came out, never opened the package until 6 months later and it was already dried out.
