Drop ceiling in basement: the ceiling tiles break, need to be replaced
-
William on Nov 17, 2016Home Depot, Lowes, And Menards sell PVC and vinyl ceiling tiles. A long time ago, I helped a friend put up a drop ceiling in his MASSIVE basement. To keep costs down, he bought sheets of 3/8" drywall. We cut 2 x 2 squares out of the drywall for the ceiling panels. Primed and painted them. You'd never know they were drywall.Helpful Reply

Cindy Hagemann on Nov 17, 2016If it is a dry basement, replace them with bead board or another wood - looks much better.Helpful Reply

Jim on Nov 19, 2016Most places sell a flexible fiberglass backed tile that has a textured white surface on one side, I use them a lot when there is very little room above the tile grid because you can bend these without damage. Home Depot sells them under the "Santa Fe" named style I believe.Helpful Reply
