    Nice post....when connecting the wires, you should have the stranded wire (from the lamp cord) extend about 1/8 inch further than the solid house wire and twist the wire until the lamp cord begins to twist around the solid wire. Additionally, most store bought "plug-in" light fixtures do not have a ground wire, so make sure that the house ground wire (bare copper) is connected to the mounting bracket attached to the junction box.
