Deb Murphy on Nov 21, 2013How much sun do you get where you live? In Nebraska, it seems we have more days than not that are gray and cloudy. Besides temperature, is lack of sunshine a factor in winter gardening?

Family Food Garden on Nov 21, 2013Sunshine is definitely a factor for growth, but the idea with a fall/winter garden is that you grow the vegetables to a certain size and then keep it in a preserved state, sort of like a living refrigerator. In areas where you get below zero temperatures season extenders like heavy weight row covers, mini hoop tunnels or a greenhouse is needed.
