How to make a floating mirror?

I have a simple ikea godmogon mirror that I'd like to mount in such a way that it floats off the wall instead of flush mounted. Does anyone have suggestions as how to achieve that please?

I have a narrow medicine cabinet over my sink , the hinges are on the top, so it opens upward, that way you can get both the floating look, and storage..

2x4s attached by construction adhesive to mirror at the ends. Simple metal brackets underneath to support the 2x4s and screws at 45 degrees near the top of the 2x4s to provide stability-Eveything from HD at less than $10
